  • The Neermarga region consisting of seven villages namely Moodushedde, Padushedde, Pachanady, Kudupu, Padav, Maroli and Alape villages. Kings of Ballal Dynasty were the rulers of the region. Shree Anantha Padmanabha Subramanya was the presiding diety of the region. This fact has been highlighted by late Manjeshwara Ganapathi Rao Igal in the Book “Ancient History of South Canara District” in the Year 1923. Besides Dr. P.N. Narasimha Moorthy has opened in the book “Temple of South Canara” The Idol of Sri Skanda Swamy Installed in manur temple belongs to 1000-1100 A.D

  • Stone Engravings found in the Precepts of temple bear testimony that land was Donated to Sri Sringeri Peetha’s Guru Sri Vidyaranya. It dates back to 1354 A.D and belongs to king Bukkaraya.

 

  • It is understood from Ancient texts that this temple was consecrated by sage Manva Rishi in Manur. Puranas throw light that A Brahmin by name Kedar and his wife worshipped the God and in turn she delivered three serpent eggs. Hence the place is original abode for Kudupu and Ballamanja temples”.
